KG - Grade 4 students started off the year with these fantastic LEGO self-portraits. They discussed how a self-portrait is a painting, drawing, photograph, or sculpture that represents the artist who created it. We looked at many different self-portraits in different styles -- from realistic to expressive to surrealist-- and discussed what each portrait shared about the artist who made it. Students then began their own LEGO portraits using unqiue details to share things about themselves while they practiced breaking down complex drawings into simple shapes.

Greetings BAIS Community!
As they gear up for this year's Service Learning/STEAMposium projects, middle and high school students have been exploring interdisciplinary connections between science and art. Yesterday, we had a great discussion about these fascinating artists whose work is inspired in different ways by science. Which artists stand out to you and why? Vital has been busy adding music and credits to this fantastic claymation short. Check out the edited piece and subscribe to his new YouTube channel, VT Animation!
It always makes my day to receive photos of artwork and DIY projects that BAIS students are doing on their own. Many thanks to Júlia for sharing so many of her creative endeavors with me and for reminding us all to keep on making. You're an inspiration, Júlia!
